The Deck of Dice
BGG: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/5460/the-deck-of-dice
A deck of cards that simulates dice rolls in a supposedly fairer way than real dice.
Components
- 36 cards that represent every possible roll of a pair of dice. The dice are distinct; one die on the card is marked as black, and the other is white.
- If you only need the sum of 2d6, Roger Meertens says, "Use one 2, two 3's, three 4's, four 5's, five 6's, six 7's, five 8's, four 9's, three 10's, two 11's and one 12."
- If you need to know how each die reads individually:
- Take one card from each of the dark suits, and one from each of the light suits. Shuffle the dark and light stacks separately. Every time you need a die roll, draw one card from each stack and consult the dice icons.
- If you want the rolls to be less predictable, or you want to shuffle less often, add more cards to the stacks. Be sure to add a complete run of 1-6 each time, and make sure both stacks get the same number of cards.
