You could simulate a 10x10 chessboard by playing on the lines of 16 piecepack tile backs. I'd do a 4x4 board made up of 4 2x2 boards with a one inch gap between each of the 4 sub-boards that pieces need to "hop" over (i.e. you'd Xiangqi-style "rivers" both horizontal AND vertical).

Or make a 10x10 board by using all 24 piecepack tiles and fill in the missing "middle-tile" with two dominoes (null-5 and null-6?) or some dice or ??
