Bohnaparte is a Bohnanza variant wherein the standard bean planting and the coins you earn from it aren't victory points directly; instead they are used to fuel your bitter turf war in the center of the table. One interesting aspect of the expansion is that the "lowest" value beans (Blue Beans - 20s) suddenly become very valuable, because they are your ammunition in the battles. In the end, however, I (and Nat agreed with me) wasn't particularly impressed. It seemed to me that I won partially because I had the last turn. Nat and Kisa were probably out of it, but if there had been one or two less beans on the deck and the game had ended on Kisa's turn, Dave would have won. There is also the standard problem in a territory game, i.e. the rich get richer; there is no counterbalancing method in this game.

This is my prototype game RunAway? Train. I wanted to give it one more play-test and test out the minor changes I have made before I shipped it down to this year\x92s KublaCon? Game Contest. We played the 3 game variant where you play 3 games and then at the end of the third game you add the score from you highest scoring game to your lowest scoring game and leave out the score from your middle scoring game. This is the first time playing that variant and it worked quite well. The neat thing about the three game variant is that you really don\x92t know who the winner will be until the third game is finished or at least close to the end of that game. I was able to win by scoring a real good score in the last game of 49 points. All three games where played in about 30 minutes. Emily and Ryan have played this game two other times before and commented that they like this version the best. So do I.

It seems like a good example of a kind of game I'm not really into, where the interesting-ness of the game comes from having lots and lots of rules. We played the "simplified" version, but I was unable to feel out what the consequences of my actions would be, so it was hard to know what to do when.

Otheer players had more fun than I, I think.

Once again, getting lots of tickets and making them all was the winning strategy. Also, not having enough trains to connect your cities is bad.
