Changing Landscapes piecepack game design competition

This seems an appropriate time to post an update and reminder
concerning the piecepack game design competition.

For those who are new to this group, the details and rules of the
competition and prizes can be found in message 505, posted on Aug 9th
of 2002, or you can go to the piecepack or Mesomorph web sites. The
contest involves the design of new games that centrally utilize a
piecepack. So far there have been only a handful of entries (although
typically these types of contests tend to receive some of their
entries within the final days or hours of the close). Past contests
have received fewer than a dozen entries each so don't be scared off
by thoughts of overwhelming numbers of competitors :).

The deadline for submissions is 17 January so there are about three
weeks remaining to work on and submit a game. If you are working on a
game or plan to, don't wait until the last 12 hours before getting
your rules in order, etc.!

On a related note, anyone NOT entering, and who also has no knowledge
of any games submitted, is welcome to help with play-testing contest
entries over roughly the next month and a half. If you live in the
greater San Francisco bay area and would like to participate, let me
know. It's not necessary to commit to a lot of play-testing; even a
single game play is welcome. E-mail me directly at
mschoessow@... after 6 January, or if you want to contact
me sooner, I'll be at schoesso@... through the 4th of January.
