Contest Update

I plan to push out the announcement date for the winner of the 3rd Piecepack
Design Competition by two weeks to the third of March. Play-testing is going
well, with all sixteen games having been fairly well tested, but some
questions remain concerning the leading contenders, especially as regards
playability with various numbers of players. I know most readers of this
will be disappointed with having to wait longer to find out the verdict (I
know I was at the end of the previous contest!) but sixteen is a big
quantity to try out thoroughly and I feel I owe it to the designers to take
a bit more time. I did say in the contest rules that if there were more
games than expected I might extend the announcement date though, so I only
feel a little guilty :-) Playing all these new games is great fun, but
evaluating them carefully and fairly is hard work.

Having said that, I am myself eager to finish up and announce the winner
because there are some real fine games in this group, including short ones,
long ones, light ones, heavy ones, abstract and themed, and I'm excited
about hearing what other people's opinions are regarding some of them!
