The new "piecepack Workshop" starting thread

(as you may have already seen discussed on this very Yahoo group ...)

{and, obviously, the group moderators can feel free to remove this
topic and give me a cease & desist if they don't feel it's in line
with what this group should be about ...}

Based upon a successful game design workshop system that I've seen in
operation at the Board Game Designer's Forum (www.bgdf.com) website,
I am volunteering to organize/administer a similar thing here just
for piecepack designers.

I envision it working like this: Each week a single in-process
piecepack game design is submitted by a member of the group for read-
through, playtest and critique by all other members of the group.
Members will make *constructive* comments in the thread in order to
help the designer fix any problems, enhance the game, and move it
toward completion.

As the workshop admin (and I want to stress that I'm only an
organizer -- or facilitator, if you'd like -- to keep this bus on the
road ... but it's "our" bus, not "my" bus ;-D) I would do the
following: (1) Organize the week-by-week schedule, and (2) Start the
thread for each week's game.

People interested in submitting a design for the workshop (and I know
there are a number of them in the files section) should e-mail me
directly, and offline, here: brykovian@... ... I will
maintain a "Workshop Schedule" file in the Files section.

Designs should be "mostly done", but not quite ready for official
release. They should at least be at the point that group members can
walk-through and/or test-play. Designers should remain open-minded
and willing to hear the critiques given by the group with the
intention to improve and complete the game.

Okay ... with that, I'll start taking e-mails, and look to have the
first game up for discussion on Monday, 19-January-2004.

Thanks,
-Matt Worden (aka "Brykovian")
